Catterick Parish Council
Catterick Village Junior Football Club (CVJFC) was founded in 1988 to give local aspiring footballers the opportunity to develop their skills in a friendly but competitive environment. The club is now in its third decade and considering its base is a village it has had reasonable success over the years in winning Harrogate & District and Hambleton & Richmondshire league and cup competitions. The club was also proud to be one of the first 50 clubs in the whole of the country to be awarded the coveted F.A. Charter Standard which ensures the highest standards of coaching and child protection are observed.
The club is heavily involved in the development of the Catterick Village Sports Association (CVSA) which is a registered charity responsible for the management of the sports field and the sports pavilion which was built back in 1997. Recently CVJFC has been involved in the extension of the sports field which now covers six acres. Much of the field is utilised by CVJFC as the popularity of the club has grown from circa 40 participating children to over 120 in the last 4 years.
The club gives children from the village and wider community an opportunity to play football in a safe controlled environment with their friends and now has age groups ranging from Soccer Tots (under 4’s) through to under 16 years. The management team of the club and coaches are all volunteers and are largely made up of spectating parents who were coaxed into getting involved on the other side of the touchline. This ensures the ethos of the club continues to be both friendly and family oriented and both the children and their parents stay and grow with the club.
